Annie Cattrell – Preview and Talk
Tue 19 June 2012
7-9 pm
Timespan invites you to join us for the first exhibition of work by Annie Cattrell in the Highlands, from large scale sculptures to works on paper. The elemental subjects of many of the works, based on clouds, sea and currents, will resonate with a Highland popoulation whose work and lives, particularly historically, were often controlled by the forces of nature. In today’s Highlands we are leading the way in harvesting the energy of these elemental forces; at sea, in lochs and on land. The cutting edge technology of our research also finds resonance in Annie’s work – in the collaborative relationships that she develops with scientists, historians and experts in their specialist fields, and the important role that state-of-the-art technology such as Lydar laser-scanning and FMRI brain scanning techniques have, in providing practical and conceptual insights in the development and making of her work.
Exhibition 20 June – 12 AugustOpening Hours: Mon – Sat 10-5, Sun 12-5
