Domestic Life
It is intriguing to compare the everyday objects used over the last 200 years to what we use today. Can you imagine a world without microwaves, fridge-freezers, washing machines, computers and mobile phones! In the past the houses in Helmsdale were lit up with oil lamps and candles, washing clothes was done by hand, food was cooked on a stove by the fire and eaten within a few days. Many of these objects were made of durable materials like wood and metal and have have survived the test of time. Come and visit Timespan where you can see many more objects on display in our museum.
