HMS Helmsdale Plaque
This is a plaque from HMS Helmsdale. It is made of wood and measures 170mm x 120mm. The plaque is one of two that were gifted to Timespan by the Commanding Officer of HMS Helmsdale.
HMS Helmsdale was a river class minesweeper attached to Tay Division Royal Naval Reserve in the mid 1980s. She was built by Richards Shipbuilders Ltd. and launched in January 1985. She remained in Dundee until 1990 when she was placed in ‘maintenance by preservation’ in Portsmouth Naval Base.
If you have any more information on either the plaque or HMS Helmsdale we would love to hear from you.
Timespan is now open for the season – come along and see the other interesting objects in our museum!
