Talk at TimespanMonday 19th May at 7.30pm
Each artist will give a brief background about their recent body of work and the development of their current investigations that have evolved throughout the residency. In our individual presentations we will explain the theoretical underpinning informing our ideas as well as the techniques and working process involved in the making of the work. Joseph Cavalieri (New York, NY) will share images of hand painted portraits of the local peoples of Lybster, as well as new experimental 2-dimentional work.
Fabrizia Bazzo (Somerset UK) Fabrizia will talk about the transition from her figurative 2-dimensional stained glass to her more recent 3-dimensional work where she also makes use of various techniques taken from printmaking.
Fabrizia Bazzo Lee Mathers (Sydney, Australia) work uses glass as a sculptural medium to explore ideas of memory and place. Lee will discuss her interest of how certain objects from ones past, particularly from the domestic environment can invoke a reminiscing of another time and place. Lee Mathers Lisa Cahill (Sydney, Australia) will show images of her minimalist landscape inspired wall panels before showing images and discussing how she has begun investigating more sculptural forms and vessels with various new techniques while at Northlands.
Lisa Cahill We would also like to invite guests of this lecture to our '4 Shades of Light' exhibit at The Gallery at North Land Creative Glass on Sunday and Monday, May 25th and 26th, from noon to 4pm.
